More than two decades ago, Edelman pioneered litigation support communications representing CBS in Westmoreland v. CBS. Today, the firm is recognized as a leader in the marketplace, providing strategic counsel to companies involved in high-profile litigation - recently MasterCard.

Our programs build on legal arguments to help companies win in the court of public opinion. Whether developing messages that resonate beyond the courtroom, leveraging third-party advocates on op-ed pages, managing a full-service media bureau, or framing issues for relevant audiences, we help our clients define litigation on their terms for the media, consumers, opinion leaders, and government officials.

With a practice that includes a strong international network of attorneys, senior communications counselors, former journalists and former high-level political officials, Edelman has a depth of experience helping clients navigate communications challenges that may arise in complex litigation. We've managed communications for class action suits, antitrust violations, government investigations, commercial disputes, medical malpractice, bankruptcy, toxic torts, labor issues, intellectual property disputes, as well as shareholder litigation and disaster cases.

Our recent assignments include:
  • Designing and executing communication strategies for a leading credit card association in a private, class action antitrust lawsuit  brought by four million merchants;
  • Counseling a multi-national pharmaceutical company in a class action lawsuit brought by 32 state attorneys general alleging unfair business practices;
  • Managing communications for a drug company in connection with a landmark consumer class action lawsuit resulting in an $860 million settlement for alleged misleading advertising.
