SHELLIE WINKLER TO HEAD EDELMAN’S CORPORATE HEALTH PRACTICE

February 21, 2007, New York -- Edelman, the world’s largest independent public relations firm, has hired Shellie Winkler in the newly created position of Executive Vice President, Corporate Health in the Eastern Region. Winkler will work out of the firm’s New York office and serve on the leadership teams for Edelman’s Health sector and Corporate & Public Affairs practice.

Winkler will collaborate extensively with colleagues in a highly matrixed convergence of practices to address the reputation and organizational communications needs of health sector clients. These clients include major pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, healthcare providers, institutions and government agencies.

According to Winkler, Edelman “has more leverageable assets in its Corporate Affairs and Health practices that, when brought together, can really make a differentiated, first-in-class offering for clients.”

Edelman’s Corporate Affairs practice partners with clients across a range of industries to define and effectively articulate corporate strategy at critical junctures in the life of a corporation, including mergers and acquisitions, stock listings, corporate brand re-launches, and shifts in business, product and operations strategy. The practice brings top strategic thinking, coupled with outstanding execution from press relations, to executive communications to influencer outreach.

The Corporate Health practice is one of nine specialty areas within Edelman’s global Health sector that also includes Rx Health, Consumer Health, Health Policy and Public Affairs, Health Branding, Life Sciences, Health Media, Health Alliances, and sister medical education and publishing firm BioScience Communications.

Winkler joins Edelman with 14 years experience supporting the healthcare industry in product, franchise, corporate communications and issues/crisis management. Her particular areas of expertise include women’s health, cardiovascular, neuroscience. In addition to her work in the health industry, Winkler has served clients in such sectors as insurance, economic development, technology, and shipping and logistics. Prior to joining Edelman, she was director of the corporate practice of Ogilvy Public Relations in New York. Winkler will report to Matt Harrington, President, Eastern Region and collaborate with Nancy Turett, Global President, Health, on advancing new initiatives.
