Julianna Richter Appointed Chief Operating Officer, Edelman U.S.

Lisa Sepulveda Named President of Global Client Relationship Management

Edelman has named Julianna Richter chief operating officer, Edelman U.S., effective March 25. In this role, Richter, a 13-year veteran of Edelman, will have management and operational responsibility for the West Coast, Southeast and Southwest regions and establish a U.S.-wide knowledge management system. She will report to Mark Hass, president and CEO, Edelman, U.S. She was previously head of the firm’s Global Client Relationship Management (GCRM) program, which will now be led by Lisa Sepulveda, also effective March 25.

Richter joined Edelman in 2000 managing pharmaceutical and health clients including Schering-Plough, Novartis, Merck and AstraZeneca. In 2003, she was named global client relationship manager for AstraZeneca, and helped develop it into one of the largest global relationships at the firm. In 2010, Richter was named president of the GCRM program, which manages the firm’s largest global clients. In this role, she counselled clients and teams on global account management, issues management and cross-office integration. That same year, she led the development and implementation of Edelman NEXT, a global effort centered around improved organizational design and effectiveness intended to enhance strategic planning, role clarity and decision making across the Edelman matrix.

Sepulveda, who worked at Edelman from 1987 to 2006, will oversee the GCRM program and its teams. There are currently 17 GCRM clients, which account for over 30 percent of the firm’s global revenue, including Microsoft, GE, eBay and HP. She will report to Richard Edelman and join the firm’s Executive Committee.

“During her 19-year career at Edelman, Lisa played an integral role in some of our most significant campaigns, including the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty and Advil and Claritin’s switch to OTC,” said Edelman. “Her global experience and client work make her a perfect fit for this role.”

Sepulveda, currently president of Global Consumer Marketing at Weber Shandwick, has over 25 years of consumer marketing experience. At Weber, she was responsible for coordinating global brands across the network and managing global assignments for clients including Samsung, Fisher-Price, Novartis, Amway and Weight Watchers. Sepulveda has also led brand-building campaigns and programs for Sears, Georgia-Pacific, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Schering-Plough, Unilever and Wyeth.

Prior to Weber, Sepulveda was the CEO of Euro RSCG Worldwide PR, overseeing the firm’s U.S. staff and operations while leading integrated and global teams across practices. Before that, she was general manager of consumer brands at Edelman, where she formed the first industry consumer health practice.
