Edelman announced today that Spike Jones has joined Edelman’s Austin office as senior vice president, effective immediately. Jones will oversee regional strategy and business development for the Southwest.
“Spike’s expertise in creating word-of-mouth movements and bringing disruptive and innovative social strategies to clients will further drive momentum forward for our Southwest Digital practice, where the Edelman center of excellence for analytics is based,” said Helen Vollmer, president of the Edelman Southwest region. “He’ll be joining a growing and impressive team — and we’re thrilled to have his expertise and leadership at Edelman.”
Jones has experience working on digital customer experience initiatives and advocacy programs for clients such as Verizon, HP, Pfizer, Intel and Hershey’s. Prior to joining Edelman, he was the group director of engagement at WCG in Austin, growing the business to the third most profitable in the company. Before that, Jones was a senior vice president at FleishmanHillard in Austin and spent 10 years at Brains on Fire in Greenville, S.C.
The Southwest team is spearheaded by several talented VPs and recent hires including:
- Brianne Brewer, vice president, Austin: With Edelman Digital since October 2012, Brewer’s expertise lies in developing integrated communications strategies for education and technology clients with a focus on analytics and insights.
- Chris Hershberger, vice president, Dallas: Joined Edelman Digital in October 2013, bringing his business-to-consumer and mobile expertise from previous roles at Michaels Stores, Inc. and Alive Digital.
- Deven Nongbri, vice president, Houston: Hired in November 2012, Nongbri previously was a vice president of marketing for Extremetix, Inc. and helped pioneer digital marketing and social solutions at Sara Lee, Johnson & Johnson, AT&T and Dell.

Jones is co-author of the book Brains on Fire: Ignite Powerful, Sustainable, Word of Mouth Movements, which was published by Wiley & Sons in August 2010. His branding work has received several accolades, including 11 recognitions by ReBrand 100 and numerous Addy awards.
