The social platform doubled down on one of its signature functions by giving Moments its own analytic offerings. Twitter now provides information on total opens, unique opens, likes, shares and completion rate of Moments. These new metrics are part of an effort to attract more users to the feature and give creators more insight on how to tweak their Moments for better performance.
Instagram launched Geostickers for Instagram Stories, the newest feature to compete with Snapchat. Similar to Snapchat’s Geofilters, Geostickers allow users to add location-based custom illustrations to their Instagram Stories. With this update, Geostickers are only available in select neighborhoods, but other stickers are still available for users worldwide. The efforts are showing strong results as Instagram Stories already has 150 million daily users, which is more than Snapchat’s original version of the feature.
Facebook has laid down the first direct merging of Facebook content within a VR environment with the addition of a new Facebook 360 app for Samsung Gear VR. The app will make it easy for users to search through 360 content posted to Facebook, where they can discover new 360 content, follow content from friends and pages, view content saved from the News Feed and share their own 360 photos and videos.
