Reham Ibrahim is a senior designer at Edelman Digital New York. Originally from Egypt, she came to the U.S. from Dubai and has experience in freelance, agency and in-house positions. Reham dances while she works, and the other way around. We talked to her about where she draws design inspiration and her priorities. This is what we learned:

What’s on your professional to-do list this year?

I want to gain interactive/digital design experience in both mobile and web applications, attend more design conferences, develop more projects from concept to completion and mentor junior designers.

What do you do for inspiration after a brief?

I do some research by only using one word from the brief, then go off on a tangent from there. Go for a walk. People watch.

What book are you currently reading?

Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. It’s about what makes experiences genuinely satisfying, a state of consciousness called flow, where people experience deep enjoyment, creativity and a total involvement with life. The book teaches how, by ordering the information that enters our consciousness, we can discover true happiness and greatly improve the quality of our lives.

What song are you currently listening to?

Dead Editors by Massive Attack, on repeat.

What’s the first thing that people notice about you?

My hair, and sometimes my white glasses.

How do you pronounce your name?

Like Rehab, but with an M.

Three favorite things to do in your spare time:

Dance salsa and bachata, play volleyball, and watch movies.

Three things you can’t live without:

Laughter, traveling, and dancing.

Three traits you dislike in people:

Negativity/complaining, dishonesty and rudeness.

Three traits you wish you didn’t have:

Speaking before thinking, impatience and overanalyzing/overthinking.

What is one thing that people should know about you?

I have an obsession with skulls.
