Instagram Adds Augmented Reality Face Filters

In its newest update, Instagram released eight different filters for Instagram Stories that will work on both the front and back cameras of your phone. Similar to Snapchat, these filters utilize AR to map and apply animations to a user’s face. The platform also added a few other features to Stories including hashtag “stickers” which allow viewers to explore other media that has been shared with the same hashtag.

Snapchat Rolls Out a Trio of New Ad Products Using Its Lenses and Geofilters

Snapchat expanded its ad offerings to include three new products that take advantage of its lenses and geofilters. These new features include World Lenses, Audience Lenses, and an advertising update to the already popular Snapchat geofilters. The platform stated that these features are extremely appealing to advertisers because they are heavily used in the app. Geofilters, for example, are viewed over 1 billion times a day on average.

Twitter Adds Advanced Privacy Controls, New Data Collection Methods

Twitter has updated their privacy policy, implemented new ways of collecting data and built out new privacy controls. Users of the platform can now view and customize collected interests, device data and advertiser lists they’ve been included in. The updated privacy policy also gives Twitter more autonomy with leveraging the data users permit them to collect, allowing them to further refine the advertising experience that has bolstered Twitter’s growth recently.
