Instagram Now Lets You Reply to Stories with Photos and Videos
Instagram has added the ability to respond to individual stories with photos, videos and Boomerangs. The camera icon now appears beside the text box at the bottom of each story. Tapping it will allow users to craft a reply like it were any other story entry, complete with filters, stickers, hashtags and more. The new feature could result in increased engagement with Instagram Stories.
Facebook is Rolling Out its ‘Find Wi-Fi’ Feature Worldwide
Designed to help mobile users find accessible Wi-Fi networks, Facebook announced that users on iOS and Android devices worldwide will soon have access to the “Find Wi-Fi” feature, located under the “More” tab on the mobile app. Once turned on, Facebook will display a map with the nearest hotspots. In addition to helping users find Wi-Fi hotspots, the new tool will serve as a way for users to discover local businesses.
Pinterest Adds Two-Factor Authentication for an Important Layer of Extra Security
Pinterest has announced that they now offer two-factor authentication (2FA), allowing users to add an extra layer of security when they log in. Pinterest has opted for the popular verification code method, where linked account holders receive a code via text message to authenticate their identity. This is a valuable security update for companies on the platform.
Snapchat Lets You Add Links, Voice Filters and Backdrops to Snaps
Snapchat’s most recent update brings the option to add links to Snaps for all users. Additional features include Backdrops, which add a colorful background, and voice filters. Since Instagram currently allows only verified accounts to post links in Stories, these updates could give Snapchat a momentary competitive advantage.
