We encourage citizen values over consumer values — within Edelman; with our suppliers, partners, and clients; in our communities; our industry and our world. It’s about business integrity and sustainability for our clients, our communities and for ourselves. We maintain that vision wherever we go. In whatever we do.
Business Integrity. Reputation is our most valuable asset and business integrity is key to safeguarding it. We are committed to giving our employees the tools to guide the right behaviors, including a Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, a Day-to-Day Situation Guide, an ethics helpline, online training, an extensive compliance intranet site, and other compliance and ethics related policies and procedures. Our full-time compliance and ethics team is available to support our staff globally as needed.
Human Rights. The key tenets of Edelman’s business are reputation, leadership and transparency. Respecting human rights is therefore an essential part of how we do business. As a signatory of the U.N. Global Compact, Edelman supports internationally accepted principles regarding human rights, labor standards, the environment and anti-corruption, including the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights and core ILO conventions. Edelman seeks to operate our business in a manner that upholds these principles. We protect employees’ human rights by enforcing zero-tolerance workplace violence and harassment policies. These policies help to ensure that our employees are working in productive, safe environments. For more information, please see our Human Rights Policy.
Sustainability. We are measuring and working to reduce our impact on the environment, as described in our environmental policy. In 2011, we conducted a carbon footprint analysis for the second year to establish an accurate baseline and continue to lay the foundation for measuring and managing future impacts. Some other successful initiatives include the formation of Green Teams (now in 60 percent of our offices), promoting public transportation (also in 60 percent of our offices) and the installation of video conference facilities in our largest offices.
