Inside Edelman is an ongoing series that spotlights our colleagues who are doing extraordinary work across our network. This year's International Women's Day theme is #ChooseToChallenge and we’ll be spotlighting our female leaders, the challenges they’ve faced personally and professionally and how they’ve overcome them.
What does “choose to challenge” mean to you?
“Choose to challenge” means to be deliberate in not accepting the status quo and to advocate for change where and when it’s needed.
What advice do you have for a woman starting her career?
Speak up and stand up for yourself. To achieve professional success—however you define that—you need to self-advocate to get what it is that you want and deserve.
How do you build your inner resilience?
Perspective is everything. When I get down or feel defeated, I quickly refocus on what it is that I should be grateful for, or what IS possible.
What do you believe will be the biggest challenge for the next generation of women?
Women can’t give up the fight for equality in the workplace. Despite the slow pace at which women are advancing to executive-level roles, we need to continue pushing for what should be equally attainable for women, not just men.
Do you think it is important for women to challenge one another?
Yes! We each have a responsibility to challenge, while also lifting each other up.
How do you challenge other women around you?
So many women continue to feel unheard and/or not empowered to speak up. I am constantly challenging women to make sure that their voices are heard.
What is one of the best pieces of advice you’ve received in your career?
