Last August, 74 of our top Communications Marketing leaders from 44 different offices around the globe gathered in beautiful Toronto to participate in our annual Leadership Academy hosted by Lisa Sepulveda, chief client officer, and Nigel Miller, chief human resources officer. Built on the tradition of our firm since 1998, the Leadership Academy enables leading talent from across the globe a unique opportunity to participate in an intensive professional skills development and educational workshop conducted by Edelman executives and experts from various fields.
As Nigel states, “The best Communications Marketing practitioners are constantly in search of knowledge and ways to improve themselves in the best interest of their clients.” Leadership Academy offers our top talent a chance to do just that.
This year’s Academy was structured around Edelman’s new Leadership Model. Over the course of three days, the program explored the four pillars of our new model: Transform, Build, Storytell & Deliver. Each pillar introduced content to support our leaders in the development of the respective area of expertise, such as “Identifying & Understanding our Clients’ Business problems,” “Working in and Leading Integrated Teams, “The Art of the Sell” and “Understanding the Business of the Business.”
In the months that have followed the Academy, the opportunity and challenge for delegates has been to share and therefore their new knowledge with the rest of the global Edelman network. Each participant has been responsible for bringing the key learnings from Leadership Academy back to his or her home office. This will help advance global Communications Marketing leadership understanding and capabilities, facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices and support our learning objectives to position Edelman as the leading global Communications Marketing firm.
Participants leave Leadership Academy with not only a new global network of colleagues and friends, but inspired with a renewed ability to think about our business and how to best lead our teams and clients into the future.
