Edelman University
Launched in 1996, Edelman University is a comprehensive in-house learning and development program for all employees. In recent years, the program has evolved from a small-scale pilot to a global strategic initiative. The expansion of Edelman U reflects our commitment to developing the knowledge and skills of our employees so that they can deliver the highest quality service for our clients.
Today, Edelman U encompasses courses on a broad range of topics and best practices in each of our locations as well as online courses for all staff, taught by senior leaders of company and outside experts. “Video case” classes, hosted bi-weekly, bring together staff from offices across the globe, who share their strategies for Edelman’s most challenging client assignments, including Wal-Mart, Microsoft’s Xbox and General Electric. Each employee receives a minimum of 24 hours of training annually and can manage his or her personal course schedule with “My Edelman University” on Edelman’s intranet.
Managers Bootcamp
This two-day leadership and management skills training workshop support the development of our people and help them grow as PR professionals and as leaders. Designed for all employees who manage staff, the interactive sessions explore effective strategies for bringing out the best in every employee.
Edelman International Summer School
Each year, more than three dozen up-and-coming Edelman professionals from Edelman offices and affiliates around the world gather at an intensive four-day training retreat to share their knowledge and experiences and learn about the challenges and opportunities they will encounter as future leaders of the firm. Through intensive immersion, simulation exercises, and training experiences, “rising stars” at Edelman are challenged by current leaders to be future leaders. Themes of the Summer School have included “Leading the Digital Communications Age” and “Navigating the New World of Media.”
Mentoring
In 2005, Edelman formalized a global mentoring program to promote an environment that fosters growth and professional development through the sharing of resources, knowledge, and ideas. Edelman’s approach is collaborative. Mentor and mentee form a partnership to learn from each other. All employees may participate in the voluntary program.
Edelman Escape
Have you ever wanted to record a song or help rebuild houses in a disaster zone? Edelman employees have pursued these and many other personal passions as part of Edelman Escape, which rewards employees with time off and a stipend for a one-week trip to fulfill a long-held dream.
