Edelman today announced the appointment of Nigel Miller as co-chair, Europe & CIS employee engagement and global director of Edelman talent engagement.

Nigel will co-chair the regional employee engagement practice alongside Nick Howard. He will support Nick to develop the practice outside the UK, where growth has been extremely rapid over the past 18 months. Nigel will also be responsible for global talent engagement working alongside chief talent officer, Claudia Patton. Nigel will support the Edelman talent team with best practices on employee engagement and change for the firm’s ever growing employee base.

In today’s attention economy it is increasingly difficult for businesses to engage their employees. Employees are connecting and sharing information 24/7 with each other, customers, citizens and the media. Managing this is tougher than ever yet the employee advocacy opportunities for businesses are powerful. Edelman’s employee engagement practice helps clients create meaningful connections between employees and their employer, their colleagues, and the outside world. We help clients understand and drive the employee behaviors that will add value to the bottom line.

Nigel joins Edelman from Coca Cola Enterprises, where as vice president of human resources he has been a member of the leadership team and provided HR business partnership and labour relations stewardship for the company’s European operations of 13,000 employees. Nigel began his career with more than nine years on the agency-side before joining Labatt Brewing Company, based in Toronto, Canada.  He later moved to Belgium to take on global leadership of talent management and employee engagement as well as HR business partnership for the commercial functions at Labatt’s parent company, Anheuser Busch InBev.

Michael Stewart, CEO, Europe & CIS said of the new hire: “We are extremely excited that Nigel is joining us. Nigel’s wealth of knowledge and expertise will be an incredible asset as we achieve our strategy of organic and non-organic growth in the region. He will play a critical role in ensuring Edelman’s culture and values are maintained as we continue to scale.  I look forward to working with him in Europe as we enter our next stage of growth and development.”

Nick Howard, co-chair, Europe & CIS employee engagement, said: “I’m delighted that Nigel is joining the team. His combination of international HR and communications experience is a real advantage, giving us access to new clients and helping us grow the employee engagement practice in new ways. I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Nigel said of joining Edelman: “Having been a very happy client and a competitor at different times in my career, I’ve always had the greatest respect for Edelman’s reputation and competence.  So it’s now tremendously exciting to be joining the firm and hopefully bringing a valued combination of experiences to such a strong team. I can’t wait to get started.”
