Edelman today announced that Alicia Thompson, APR has been appointed general manager of Edelman’s Atlanta office. Thompson, who most recently served as the regional lead for the food sector, will oversee the execution and integration of client programs hubbed out of the Atlanta office, and will report to Steven Behm, president of Edelman South.

Prior to joining Edelman, Thompson was vice president of communications and public relations at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. In addition, she managed corporate communications and in-house communications for the customer markets business unit of BellSouth Corporation. Thompson also managed public relations programs for The Coca-Cola Company. Thompson is a member of the Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), for which she recently served as president. She also serves on the Board of the YWCA of Greater Atlanta and is a member of the College of Charleston Department of Communication Advisory Council, Women’s Foodservice Forum, Black Public Relations Society of Atlanta, Leadership Atlanta Class of 2008, National Eagle Leadership Institute and Board of Directors Network.
