Edelman today announced the further strengthening of its global Public Affairs leadership team with the appointment of Miguel Fernandes da Silva as a director of food policy for Europe. Da Silva will join a growing team of sector public affairs leaders based in Edelman’s Brussels office.

Da Silva comes to Edelman’s team after over 10 years with EAS, a global food and nutrition boutique consultancy. Most recently, as a global director of health and nutrition policy for EAS based in Singapore, da Silva provided strategic advice to governments, trade associations and corporate clients on the impact of regulatory harmonisation and the introduction of new regulatory systems impacting food, health and nutrition internationally. Prior to moving to Singapore in 2011, da Silva worked as director health and nutrition policy for EAS Europe in Brussels for eight years.

Da Silva has more than a decade of experience in public affairs, regulatory affairs and public policy, with a deep understanding of and interest in food law and nutrition policy. He is an expert in developing corporate policies and strategies, stakeholder engagement plans and advocacy strategies to enhance reputation in the health & wellness space.

In his role at Edelman, da Silva will be based in Brussels and head up the food sector work across Europe working with existing food and nutrition clients, as well as providing strategic counsel to clients internationally and driving the growth of this sector internationally.
