25-Year Edelman Veteran Will Oversee One of The Firm’s Largest Sectors
Edelman has appointed Susan Isenberg, currently the firm’s client lead for Johnson & Johnson, global sector chair, Health, effective immediately. Isenberg, a 25-year veteran of Edelman, will look to develop new health-focused IP, drive new business and client relationship development while building out the firm’s subsector expertise, specifically in health tech and bio tech. She succeeds Kym White, who left the firm back in March to join Vertex, a biotech company. Isenberg will be based in New York.
“As regulations and technology continually impact the ecosystem of the sector, healthcare companies are looking for smart, new ways to provide people with affordable and effective healthcare,” said Michael Stewart, global vice chair and president of Practices and Sectors at Edelman. “Susan’s 30-plus years of experience in healthcare communications and marketing with top global clients makes her the perfect choice to run our Health sector, helping organizations navigate the ever-evolving complexities and policies of the industry.”
Prior to leading the Johnson & Johnson account, Isenberg was global vice chair for the Health Sector overseeing the U.S. Before that, she served as managing director for both the Health and Consumer Marketing divisions in Edelman’s New York office.
“Healthcare is at a critical inflection point; innovations in research and technological advancements are happening at a dizzying pace, yet issues of pricing and access continue to be a challenge,” said Isenberg. “I’m looking forward to working with our teams and clients around the world to create integrated communications programs that help ensure our clients’ important health advancements are heard and appreciated.”
Isenberg has led several award-winning programs including Together Rx, on behalf of a number of pharmaceutical clients, and most recently, Hit Play, on behalf of DePuy Synthses. She has also served as a member of the Executive Committee of PhAME (Pharmaceutical Advertising and Marketing Excellence). She has also authored a number of articles about health communications.
