Edelman today announced the appointment of Andrew Mitchell, former partner of Brunswick’s Energy practice, in the newly created role of group Energy director, Europe & CIS.

Mitchell will oversee Edelman’s energy sector for its Europe and CIS region and will be sharing his deep industry expertise with new and existing clients from across its energy portfolio.

Steve Spurr, chief operating officer, Edelman UK & Ireland said: “We are delighted that Andrew has joined Edelman. He brings to the agency a wealth of experience and deep industry expertise to help us understand the complex issues surrounding the energy landscape.”

Mitchell spent four years as Partner of Brunswick’s Energy practice where he advised on a wide range of energy and resources clients. His expertise lies in helping companies engage in frontier markets, reputation development, capital markets transactions and crisis management. Prior to working in agencies, Andrew spent more than a decade as a financial journalist, most notably as Energy Editor and correspondent at Reuters.

Mitchell said: “The opportunity to lead Edelman’s Europe & CIS energy sector is immensely exciting. Rapid change through the energy industry means companies are having to work even harder to win trust from their core audiences. Edelman’s range of capabilities is ideally suited to helping clients meet this challenge and I’m looking forward to building a strong integrated proposition.”

Michael Stewart, CEO & President, Edelman Europe & CIS said: “Across Europe we have been focused on deepening our sector specialisms and making senior hires in key verticals. Energy continues to be an important part of our client service across Europe, as well as globally. Andrew brings unrivalled experience and his appointment in Europe will complement the bench strength we have in the sector globally.”
