Students to Win Separate Honors for PR Leadership, Contributions to Women’s Issues

Edelman announced it is accepting applications for the 2015 Daniel J. Edelman and Ruth Edelman Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Awards honoring the late founder and his accomplished wife, Ruth Edelman, who was deputy chairman.

The Daniel J. Edelman/PRSSA award, has been given annually since 1990 to two active members of the PRSSA who have shown exceptional leadership ability, a commitment to a career in the field and significant contributions to PRSSA.

The Ruth Edelman/PRSSA award is presented in partnership with Edelman’s Global Women’s Executive Network (GWEN) to recognize student members who have demonstrated achievement in women’s leadership, women’s studies and/or contributions in the field to promote women’s issues.

The awards were created to offer accomplished students an opportunity to advance their skills in the public relations industry. Recipients receive a $1,500 cash award and a three-month paid internship in one of Edelman’s U.S. offices. Completed entries must be postmarked by Feb. 23.

Students competing for the Daniel J. Edelman award must be a PRSSA member and will be assessed on their leadership; public relations-related achievements and activities; social media/digital presence; and recommendations from faculty members and/or industry professionals. Students competing for the Ruth Edelman Award will be judged on similar qualities as well as a proven interest in women’s studies/issues and contributions in the field or PR as it relates to women.
