Edelman today announced the appointment of Lucy Allen as head of its Bay Area operations. In her new role, Allen will be responsible for a key Edelman region and be charged with developing and serving a dynamic client portfolio, cultivating a distinct mix of talent and deploying new capabilities and services aligned to clients’ emergent needs. She will lead Edelman’s 230-person Bay Area hub, which consists of the San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Sacramento offices, and will report to Kristine Boyden, president, U.S. Western Region.

Allen most recently was the chief strategy officer at LEWIS where she led the firm’s evolution into an integrated communications agency. She was responsible for defining the agency brand, identifying opportunities for diversification, overseeing investments to drive organic growth and establishing best practices. In this role, she developed and launched its first digital services, oversaw its research and marketing arms and led the agency’s thought leadership programs. She was part of the leadership team that won new clients with this approach, building LEWIS from 10 people to 600 people. In her more than 20 years of experience – including the last 13 in the Bay Area – Lucy has helped build operations from the ground up in multiple markets for LEWIS, including San Francisco; Washington, D.C.; San Diego and London.

“Lucy has deep chops as a modern practitioner across PR, technology and integrated marketing,” said Boyden. “She is a proven builder and was a natural choice for this role. Lucy will be a great asset to the Bay Area and Edelman at large – someone who can harness the best of our people and our work to help us realize our communications marketing ambitions for all of our clients and teams.”

“Edelman has a unique opportunity in the Bay Area,” said Allen. “Clients here are embracing data-led integrated communications but they want innovation and creativity too. As an independent agency with an exceptional breadth of services and depth of talent, Edelman offers a tremendous option for brands in this region. I am delighted to be joining such a driven team and look forward to helping shape its future.”

Edelman Bay Area offers consumer marketing, corporate and corporate social responsibility, crisis & issues, digital, financial communications, public affairs and technology and serves a wide variety of clients. Recent award-winning client campaigns where Bay Area teams played a major role include multiple Cannes Lions for Adobe Photoshop Murder Mystery and REI #OptOutside, and a Gold Sabre for eBay for Digitizing a Corporate Transformation.
