Nina Godard

Nina is a Vice President at Edelman Canada and oversees Financial Communications at Edelman Canada. She provides strategic counsel related to normal course corporate, executive and financial communications, as well as complex mandates including hostile and friendly takeovers, shareholder activism, leadership changes and reputational challenges.  

Nina has been instrumental in advising clients on transactions and special situations including: Aurinia Pharmaceutical’s successful defense against ILJIN, Onex’s proposed $5B acquisition of WestJet,  DAVIDsTEA’s proxy contest against Rainy Day Investments, NEXA Resources’ IPO on TSX/NYSE (one of the largest mining IPOs in the TSX’s 165-year history), Manulife Financial’s acquisition of Standard Life’s Canadian operations, and several transactions for Birch Hill Equity Partners, Fiera Capital, RioCan, Aphria Inc. and Corby Spirit & Wine. She has been the client lead for several high-profile clients including BlackRock Canada, Scotiabank, Fiera Capital, Aphria Inc., and Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board. 

Nina has also led Edelman Canada’s launch of the firm’s annual global Trust Barometer survey and Institutional Investor Trust survey, helping companies navigate the critical role that trust plays in building positive corporate reputation and meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.                                                                                                                      

Previously, Nina was at another communications agency and at PwC, where she was the marketing communications lead for a number of the firm’s practices including Banking & Capital Markets and Financial Services.  

Nina holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from McGill University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Public Relations from Humber College. She completed the Canadian Securities Course.
